Yes, I felt like paraphrasing U2 a bit there. Just because it fit so well really. Monday is almost over, thank God. After a day of fighting the urge to scream, kick and throw things around it's good to just sit back and relax with some nice and calm Pogues playing from Spotify.
I can't really go in to details on why the day has been so utterly frustrating since it's work related. Professionalism and rules mean i can only say that some times communication across different regions can be extremely difficult. No matter how much you think you are breaking something down in to little pieces of information, there can be gaps and misunderstandings. But yeah, it's still frustrating as hell.
Hopefully tomorrow will flow along a bit better. I'm sure the same issues from today will still be there, but it won't be Monday. It'll be Tuesday, which means one day closer to the weekend!

Lazy Sunday
It's been a day just the way I like it. Lazy.
Haven't really accomplished anything at all today. Got up a bit early, watched a movie, did some quick cleaning, watched another movie, went to the store, made dinner, watching Airline right now.
Don't really have anything to write about, but at least I didn't skip more than one day of updates :-)

It's been a good day to believe in freedom
Two important court cases were decided on today on each side of the planet. Both of them were important in their own right for the principles they dealt with.
First off, iiNet in Australia won against AFACT, the Australian copyright lobby in a case where it was decided that an ISP can not be held legally responsible for what it's users do with the bandwidth purchased. This was important since it established a principle that ISPs should not be given the task of being some sort of copyright police. An infringer is just as entitled to due process as anyone else. Of course this was an Australian case, but the principle was important, and the case has been followed by lawyers, governments and ISPs all across the globe.
In another case, this time in the UK, the criminal charges against operators of the BitTorrent forum FileSoup was thrown out of court. The judges ruled that the matter was not a criminal case, but a civil case. If copyright holders want compensation for their work being infringed on, they need to go against the infringers with civil lawsuits. The UK police force was also heavily criticized for relying on the private organization FACT for their investigation. A private organization should not be given authority to act as law enforcement.
The last case is a very important principle, as we are seeing time and time again that private organizations are acting on their own, almost as vigilantes in investigations and even raids against alleged copyright infringers. This is something that I personally see as a very poor development. Anyone, regardless of what they are accused of doing, is entitled to due process and a day in court. No private organization can overrule this.
Wow, a post with actual opinions and stuff. Think I'll just leave it at that for today.

Another boring day
Home sick for the 2nd day in a row. Think I'll be back at work tomorrow, because this is just WAY to boring. Sure, I've gotten some coding out of the way, but still. Can't deal with nothing to do.
Anyway, this is what I've been dealing with today
Not getting it to work is incredibly frustrating. Ended up with a complete rewrite that somewhat worked, but not the way I wanted it to.
Looks like the plan to have forums separate from rest of site will simply have to wait a bit longer. Getting a kick-ass forum up and running at the moment, developed pretty much from scratch, using some basic code from a flat forum I already had laying around. Have so far added categories, subforums, attachments, polls, like/dislike buttons, extra bbcode functionality and some other small stuff. In addition I'm almost done with the administration panel for forum staff. Still quite a bit to go before being finished though. Once the forums are actually done, I'll probably go back to working on separating them from the rest of my site so that forums can be completely independent registrations from the main parts.
Anyway, that was my boring day today. This is what happens when I have nothing to do.
Anyway, this is what I've been dealing with today
define('IN_PHPBB', true);With something like that (the above is just some example code from phpBB), it should be possible to have two sites share the same login simply by using
define('ROOT_PATH', "/path/to/forums");
if (!defined('IN_PHPBB') || !defined('ROOT_PATH')) {
exit();
}
$phpEx = "php";
$phpbb_root_path = (defined('PHPBB_ROOT_PATH')) ? PHPBB_ROOT_PATH : ROOT_PATH . '/';
include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.' . $phpEx);
$user->session_begin();
$auth->acl($user->data);
$auth->login($username, $password, $remember, 1, 0)

Scientific experiments of a lazy man
I made a discovery today. When the brain really wants to, it is amazing at what speed it can process information. The list in this post details information processing over the course of approximately 0.2 seconds.
All the things you can find time to think about going down the stairs to the basement carrying the laundry basket:
All the things you can find time to think about going down the stairs to the basement carrying the laundry basket:
- Why do I suddenly have this floating sensation?
- That wall sure is approaching fast, wonder if I have time to turn around so I don't hit it face first.
- When I turned around, was it really such a good idea to push the laundry basket away AFTER I was facing upwards?
- Why is that bottle of detergent heading for my groin area going 276 km/h?
- BRACE FOR IMPACT!
- Damn, that rib head just healed properly too...
- YAAAAOOOOOOOOOWW! Ah, that's right. Hard objects hitting at the exact right position and going fast enough really does make you see stars. I'll just stay here in the fetal position for a few seconds.......
Home sick today
Being home sick sucks. It's boring. Oh well, at least I can get a few things done around the apartment. A little spot of cleaning, maybe get some laundry done. Heh. Boring.
Tried a brief watch of TV, and got reminded why the box is hardly ever on anymore. Back to music instead.

Saturday - The perfect lazy day
It's so really damn good to wake up by yourself at 10am knowing that you don't actually have to do anything at all for the entire day. It makes doing stuff that much easier.
So yeah, got up at 10am and just relaxed with some coffee and a cigarette. Then made the mistake of looking at the temperature outside. -22 freakin' degrees! I'll never fully understand how it works with zero clouds, lots of sun, and freezing cold. But that's how it is. Quite a lovely day though, which added to the making it easy to do stuff.
So I got ready after a little more laziness and went outside. The plan was to simply go to the store, but I ended up taking quite a long detour simply because it was good with the fresh air and sun. And not to mention quiet. Neighbors have gotten to the habit of having some quite loud parties during the weekend (luckily only one day usually), so after last night walking around in the quiet cold was really good.
After getting home I did some cleaning in the apartment, was lazy for a bit longer, and then fixed dinner. Was thinking about going the lazy route there as well, but then I figured I might as well spend some time on it. And what happens when the Lazy Ass spends time on making food?
Ravioli with extra spicy Bolognese sauce and dinner rolls. Yummy!
And now I'm both stuffed and lazy. For a not-so-social Lazy Ass, it's been a good Saturday :-)

Another day at the "office" done with, and since today was Friday that means WEEKEND!
Had a really productive day today. I'll take a short notice of the most important things that happened during my work day.
Yup, that's where the best of the best are gathered :-)
Otherwise, I've had my pizza, talked to a few people and been dead lazy in my living room.
Wow. I really am lazy.
To finish off, before anyone ask, no the title of this post has absolutely zero relevance to the contents.

- I finished Truck Mania
- Explained a few things to co-workers
- Sent and recieved some e-mails
- Got halfway through Monster Truck Destroyer
- Discovered that some Finns are very easily distracted
- Discovered that I'm not able to get as excited about FedEx and UPS tracking options as certain others
Yup, that's where the best of the best are gathered :-)

Another lazy post
So, well, yeah.
Another day, and another post. And shock und horror, it's another lazy one. Who'd have thunk it from the Lazy Ass Husband, huh? I probably would, but then I usually guess right on what I'm about to do. Usually.
Anyway, just to get it out of the way and done with. Here's today's breakfast, eaten after getting in to work and fetching my coffee. I was planning on dropping breakfast, but there was a vending machine and I had a 10 SEK coin in my pocket. Coin + vending machine = love, we all know that.
Well, not really I guess. But it could end up with me running down the street "downtown" being chased by a large bunch of people wielding bats, rubber snakes and high heeled shoes. While not fun for me, probably quite a bit entertaining for the townfolks. These smalltown folks are easily entertained you know
So, I was planning to post some stuff with actual thoughts, maybe a couple of opinions and such as well. I think that will have to wait until tomorrow though. Or maybe the weekend. Right now, I'm just too lazy. So I think this was it for now. Another pointless post from the rather dull life of the Lazy Ass Husband, who's by the way, still Living Alone.
Peace out.

After this very healthy breakfast the day continued with some meetings, and yet another round of e-mails, questions and phone calls. For an office type job, I sure do get a lot of excitement, huh? Well, I guess there is some excitement every once in a while, but unfortunately those are things I won't be able to write about here. Not anonymous enough etc.
Hey, maybe one day I can write a post with all the latest floor gossip. With a lot of colleagues getting links here through my Facebook account, that could end up being fun :-)

Monday v2.0
Yeah, so today is going to be a post without any pictures what so ever.
I posted about how I love Mondays a couple of days ago. I believe it was on Monday actually. However, Monday was pretty good. Today, I had the new and improved version of it though, Monday v2.0. So, why did this Wednesday go in to the history books with that new name?
Well, it started as most mornings. The alarm went off some time after 6am. Then, for some idiotic reason I shut it off and ended up back in bed. Cue the boss calling me at 9:10am asking me if it was time to get up soon. Since my work day started 40 minutes ago, I quickly agreed that indeed it was time, and skipped out of bed, kicking the bed post before almost tripping over one of the cats.
Got to the bathroom and did the morning routine. Kicked the door post on my way out with my other foot.
Got dressed and stressed on my way to work. After two minutes I turned around to go back home and get my wallet, phone and cigarettes.
A morning like that completely ruins the rest of the work day. I think I got back in sync just around lunch time, which ended up being a bit late, since I didn't really feel hungry. Got to lunch, planned to take the picture of it, realized my phone was at my desk at work. Yay!
Anyway, back at work my cell phone rang (by the way, my Irish Rover ringtone with Pogues rock!) and I saw a Norwegian number. Turns out that somehow a customer has gotten a hold of my private cell phone number. I don't know who gave it to him, but if I find out someone will be wishing for a vacation to a North Korean gulag once I'm done with him/her. Just saying. It wasn't an angry guy calling, but I don't want people to have my contact info since it generally runs a high risk of them calling me outside work hours. And outside work hours I don't want to deal with complaining customers. I'm not paid to do that.
Work day over, time to get home. Go by the store and pick up what I need, get home and realize that I still forgot stuff. Oh well, too lazy to go out and get any of it.
So, now I'm writing this, before dinner, so there won't be any dinner pictures either.
There you have it. My Monday v2.0. I'll be back tomorrow, hopefully with a fully synced week meaning that it'll be Thursday and almost weekend!
Peace out.

Another day, another $
Ah, another day approaching it's end. Not very eventful, but an okey day.
Started off as usual. I slept for too long, and took my zombie march down to work after a quick wakeup smoke. Since today was Tuesday, work has set up so that everyone gets breakfast. So this is what I got out of it:
And after that it was time to start e-mailing, answering questions, joking and generally just do what I do each day. Some extra work was put on my desk today, but that wasn't really unexpected. Just means I get to have oh so much more fun playing around in PowerPoint. Now, who wouldn't love getting to play with PowerPoint, creating documentation on processes and procedures. I mean, if I could I would've taken PowerPoint on a Valentine's date and a hot overnight adventure. Really. Really? HELL NO! But I'll do my job at least, even if it does involve the mental abuse equivalent of a date conversation with Chewbacca. Yes, that's working with PowerPoint for ya.
So, after getting that out of the way it was time for lunch. I almost forgot to take a picture today, because I was hungry and it was yummy! But, here it is. Fried pork strips and potato pancakes.

No dinner picture today, because I had a huge lunch, and kinda late, so it was my dinner too.
Anyway, after getting home I started some cleaning, which was interrupted by a couple of Finns dropping in for a quick visit. See, I told you in my first post that occasionally I can be what is popularly known as social. Was good to see them outside of work as well. It's one thing hanging out with crazy Finns at work (crazy is a requirement to work in my department), but it was nice to see that they're just as crazy outside work as well.
So now that I'm done cleaning, probably not up to any standard that'd make my mom proud but enough for me, I'm just chilling with WWE Raw, some coffee, some nicotine and some chips that was still left in the cupboard after the weekend. And that's it. Another not-so-exciting day in my not-so-exciting life. Still, I can see some people actually read this stuff, so I'll continue providing my non-sense drivel at a day-to-day basis.
Cheers!

Oh Monday, let me count the ways I love thee.....
1. Well, Mondays are cool because....
2. Mondays rock because...
3. A Monday is never dull since that's when...
Ah, screw it. It was a Monday, and we all know Mondays suck! They mean that the Lazy Ass Husband has to stop being a lazy ass and get on his way to work. Of course, this Monday was no different. So, after spending some time trying to dream up an explanation for the siren that is my alarm clock, I woke up and sat on the edge of my bed for a few minutes trying to remember where I was. After getting all the brain cells (I know there's at least two of them) in motion, I made a quick cup of coffee, got on MSN to say good morning to my wife and after that went and did my thing in the shower room.
And then the hardship of work began. I slaved and toiled with my daily tasks and some reports and stuff like that until I simply couldn't take the excitement any longer and decided it was lunch time.
An hour later, after a little round of "hey, just a quick question before you go", (not an insult, you guys know I don't mind doing that) I finally got to sit down with my lunch. Since the picture makes it a bit difficult to distinguish from dog food, something left over from a party on Saturday or the attempts of homecooking done by a 5-year old with ADHD on crystal meth, I'll explain:
What you just saw, was sausages in mustard sauce with mashed potatoes. A small mountain of it.
So that was it for lunch time. It was back to the hard manual labor of office working. After a few more rounds of questions, a bit of reporting and a new high score on TG Motocross (I RULE!) mixed in with some short breaks for the essential refills of nicotine and caffeine it was almost time to go home. Before I went home, I had the pleasure of trying to use Google Translate to get some meaning out of a Finnish e-mail though. Now, from what I can gather after reading the flawless translations from Google, someone is either desperately trying to find a useful device hanging bye the end of it's trap (wtf dude, seriously Google?!?) or they actually had a meaningful message in there which I'm going to need help translating by someone actually speaking Finnish. My bet so far is on the latter.
Anyway, home it was. Talked a bit with the wife again, then decided the mountain of lunch wasn't quite enough, so I had to get some more food:
What you saw there was:
Besides the slav.. working, eating and walking this Monday has been very uneventful. Watched the latest Simpsons episode and now gotten started on season 3 of NYPD Blue. Another exciting day in the life of the Lazy Ass Husband. Hope you enjoyed another sneak peek into this drama filled quest of trying to actually use a blog for more than a day for once.

A quiet and lazy Sunday
So yeah. It's been a very quiet and lazy Sunday in the land of the Lazy Ass Husband. Slept until around 10am and then zombied around for about an hour. Ended up with what is usually more of a work day morning breakfast:
Not really the big healthy breakfast, but it worked for today. Anyway, since it had gotten a bit late, it was almost time for something that would work as lunch. So, while waiting for the Ski Flying to start today, I tried to come up with something to eat a bit later.
I was thinking maybe eggs and baked beans, but decided that was too much of an effort right then and there, so instead it ended up with what should probably have been my breakfast:

The rest of the day was quiet. Did some coding, cuddled the cats whenever they wanted some attention and generally relaxed.
Shibby came over for a quick visit, and then I went to the store for some cat food and also brought a bag of chips to have while watching 2012 a bit later tonight.
Oh, and for dinner, see the pic from yesterday. Yup, I did the lazy ass solution and had leftovers for Sunday dinner. That's how a Lazy Ass Husband Living Alone will do it when he gets the chance. It's quick, it's easy, and I knew from yesterday's experience that it would be quite tasty.
So, that's what I'm writing up from today's "adventures". Have a good one, tomorrow starts another week of work.

Dinner Feb. 12th 2011 - Gratinated Pasta
So, it's time for the dinner post. Today I landed on gratinated pasta with a cream cheese sauce and smoked ham, sprinkled with a bit of mozzarella It's quite simple to make (which is usually an important aspect) and tasted good (also always a positive thing with dinners). The steps to make dinner this dinner was:
Anyway, the actual making of tonight's dinner went like this:
- 15 minute walk to the store.
- 20 minutes aimlessly walking around the store while figuring out what I wanted for dinner.
- Picked up what I wanted and a pack of hotdogs + buns.
- Made hotdog for dinner and waited a few days with the gratinated pasta.
Anyway, the actual making of tonight's dinner went like this:
Ingredients:
How to make:
- Heat the oven to 200 degrees celcius.
- Find an oven dish and follow instructions on pack of gratinated pasta. It's numbered, so if you can't do this, you should not be living alone.
- Sprinkle cheese on top. How much depends on how much cheese you want. Remember, you're free, no need to follow numbers for everything.
- Put the oven dish in to the oven (make sure it's actually heated up to 200 degrees first though)
- Sit down with coffee + cigarettes and listen to music for 40-50 minutes.
- Take oven dish out of the oven (some mittens could be a good idea for this one).
- Put as much as you want on a plate.
- Eat.
First, this is what it looked like coming out of the oven:
Then we have one after getting a satisfactory amount on to the plate:
