It's Saturday!

And this Saturday was spent doing something of the most boring activity that exist on this planet. I bought clothes. And discovered that it is actually possible to lose weight while gaining a size in pants. So, since I'm not an actual criminal, I simply keep to break the laws of nature. Badass!

But, like I said, buying clothes is really, really boring. Especially since I had to use the fitting room as well. I hate those things. Tiny cubicles where you try not to knock the walls down while standing there without pants on. Enough to give a shy guy nightmares!

Oh well, got through two boring bus rides to end up with a couple of new pants, a couple of shirts and a new spring jacket. Not that bad of a result I guess.

Now, on to the fact that it's Saturday, which deserves some Saturday music to round off this pointless little blog entry. So I give you two Mötorhead videos:

Peace out.

A very random thought that hit on the way home

So, today was Monday. As far as Mondays go, it's been a pretty good one. Didn't get everything I needed to get done finished, but people will survive it this time as well. It was also a beautiful day outside today, and I had a really nice walk home after work, since the sun was still out and it was a clear sky. On the way home though, a rather peculiar thought hit me as I passed and old "friend"...

Now, a little backstory is probably needed for this one.

This is the one I've chosen to name "Old Barky":

Ever since moving here way back in 2004, there's been one constant throughout everything. Being in a city that is basically filled up with callcenter employees the people change quite often, apart from a few individuals who stick around. But Old Barky has always been here. Whether it's been on the way to work or on the way home, usually he's there protecting his domain. Following from one fence to another, he'll bark non-stop following you until he can't see you anymore. He's even dug small holes so he can see under the fence where it's a solid wooden wall for him otherwise.

He's been quiet for a little while now, and I haven't really thought about it when passing his garden and yard. Today, he was back in normal force though. And seeing him standing there leaned up against the fence made me smile and I rather loudly said out a "HEY BUDDY!" when I saw him. I think it surprised him, because it stopped the barking for maybe two seconds. Nothing significant really, but the whole thing did make my braincells turn a bit for the rest of the way home.

I'm going to miss Old Barky. He was already an adult when we moved here in 2004, and he's starting to show his age. You can hear it on the bark, and he's not moving as fast anymore. So inevitably, one day he's going to be gone, and not coming back after a few days or couple of weeks. I know nothing about him, have no idea who his owners are, and have only seen him maybe two times outside his fences the 6,5 years I've been living here. But being the one constant in this little town, I've said "hey" to him many times passing by. When it's been quiet on the other side of the fence for so long that I realize what's happened, I'll miss him.

Hopefully Old Barky still has some time left. If I'm still here when the day comes that I have to realize he's gone, I'll stop by the fence and take a quiet minute though. Just a minute for an old unkown bud who's been here through thick and thin, always with a not-quite-welcoming bark whenever I've passed by, regardless of how early or late it's been. Then, after taking that minute I'll go home and put on this in his honor:

A very random post today, I know. But when I finally had some actual thoughts i felt like writing down, I figured it was worth getting it done as soon as I could.

So, a toast with whatever you might have for Old Barky. Personally it's a toast in apple juice for me tonight. Let's hope he's still got some years left to run around the yard.

Peace out.

Weekend is wonderful

It's been a wonderfully lazy Saturday. I've had my coffee, my cigarettes, some Top Gear and a nice walk out in the lovely sunshine. After this work week, a lazy Saturday was just what was needed.

It's been one of those weeks where I've worked my ass off every day, and by the end of the week have the feeling that I've accomplished absolutely nothing. Nothing feels like it has actually been finished, even though I know it has. Reports are inconclusive, presentations are done but not as thorough that I wanted them to be, and all inquiries have been responded to but feel like they're not done.

All in all, it leads to busy days that seem like they've been utterly pointless.

So, to really wind down, I've spent much of the day listening to some nice and soothing britpop. One of my favorites today ended up being this one:

In other news, my quest for an L-1 non-immigrant visa to the USA is still on-going. It's moved a bit forwad now at least, and hopefully it will continue like that in the coming weeks. There's quite a bit of time consuming paperwork if the company I work for will help move it along, so any steps forward are positive.

Not much else to drivel on about at the moment, so peace out.

A New Week

And so it was time for a new week. Nothing really special about it, just work on as normal with new stuff being started, the new stuff being started having some startup issues, and as usual reports about everything that should've been finished but wasn't. But, this Monday wasn't so bad.

I'm actually going in to this week with a bit of a good mood. I had a sudden move in the right direction in my hopes of getting my Lazy Ass over to the US at the end of last week, and while I'm not getting my hopes up, at least I can allow myself to be somewhat optimistic that there might be hope in obtaining an L-1 class visa. That's more than usual for this cranky Lazy Ass Husband.

It's a bit unfortunate that I can't post anything about last week's drama-lama, but like I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, this place isn't anonymous enough and I can't be bothered involving myself. So I'm just going to leave it at the fact that it made for an interesting read when I saw it :-)

So, what else is there to write about at the moment? Not much really to be honest. It seems to be a really quiet, calm, laid-back and utterly bloody boring spring going on here in mid Sweden. But, that's the Nordic way isn't it? No fuss, no big crisis, just a calm life going on without making much out itself.

There is one thing that does deserve a huge mention though. I'm not going to bother with a lot of writings about Japan, but one thing I've read really does deserve a mention. Something that gave me an immense respect for Japanese culture and attitudes.

You all need to read this brilliant article from The Washington Times called "Where are the Japanese Looters?". It just plainly and simply explains a culture and attitude that we in the West could learn a lot from.

And, just because I find it extremely funny, here's a random video.

Peace out.

Going through the motions

It's only been two days of the week yet, but so far it's been utterly boring. It's all been simply going through the motions, doing the same routine stuff that I always do with no surprise curvballs that come flying my way. I find myself missing that there is some sort of crisis going on.

I don't know if that is some sort of psychotic trait or something, but with a crisis going on there's always something to do, not a quiet moment when you can sit and be bored. Much better than the last couple of days. I think I'm more of a "fixer" than someone who simply maintains what is already working well.

So, in order to have something to do, I've spent the night re-writing a bunch of security functions in a php/mySQL based website. re-writing means it breaks, and can be fixed. Oh the nerdy fun of it all.

Peace out.

Weekend!

Finally the weekend has arrived! After this week I will really, really enjoy these couple of days off...

It's basically been a very hectic week at work. Different people with different demands, and for some reason they seemed to find me wherever I tried to hide. Not good. I will need to find some better camouflage before Monday rolls around again. Maybe some full citycamo combat gear will do the trick...

Anyway, seems like it's going to be a calm weekend.

Taking an easy Saturday, going out tonight for a little bit of fun. Might actually do some useful stuff before that, haven't decided yet.

Have a good weekend folks!

There was something I wanted to say

I've had this urge to do something for most of the day. Kinda give the day some sort of fitting greeting. Apart from a phone conference, the rest of this day seem to deserve something.

Oh yeah, that was it.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Oh so tired

Today has just been one of those days. I've been working my ass off all day, and have accomplished... zero. Zilch. Absolutely nothing productive came out of the day. It's pretty much been as useful as painting a dog purple and send it on a sleigh down a president's nose at Mount Rushmore.

So, while not getting anything done I've been working myself tired as f.... Gotta love those days.

I'm suspecting tomorrow will be pretty much the same, so the logical thing would be to get plenty of sleep and be very well rested. That's not likely to happen though. I'll sit here doing my little bit of programming, have Star Trek playing in the background and drink lots of coffee.

Yeah, the Lazy Ass Husband is way too much of a nerd to be sensible.

While sitting here, I'm hoping that my ankle will get better after last Tuesday's adventures. It got twisted pretty bad, and is still blue from the experience. If it doesn't stop hurting soon, I have to see a doctor about it. And seriously, I don't want to do that. Because doctors are evil.

I'll probably suck it up and get it done if it's not better by next week. Probably.
Peace out.
